How Does the Construction Process Work?

Updated a month ago.

Metronet crews make every effort to minimize impact to properties in the communities we serve. However, our technicians do need to hand fiber-optic cables on utility poles or run them underground in order to extend service. To ensure the construction process goes as smoothly as possible, we:
  • Notify the community that we are building in the area. Using mailers, door hangers, and signs, we do out best to ensure the communities we extend fiber internet services to are aware that we're expanding our network in the area.
  • Locate existing underground utilities and mark their locations using flags and landscape-safe paint.
  • Expose existing utilities to minimize damage during the construction process.
  • Repair impacted areas. Once construction is complete and weather permits, our crews return to rake, seed, and apply straw to lawns in areas that were affected by construction.
